The Pitts
That was the best Pittsburgh joke I could find online this morning, pretty lame huh? Yeah so Rachelle and I went to Pittsburgh this past weekend to visit Manda and JR. They were having a party (housewarming I think) and had a bunch of people over. Drove down Friday afternoon and met up with them for dinner in the city. We ate at Joe's Crab Shack where I had my first crab cake sandwich; it was really good.
When we first go into the "shack" I was pretty surprised to be asked "smoking, or non?" by the hostess. It's been a long time since I've eaten at a place where you can still smoke inside. The whole smoking thing was really annoying actually, every place we went ('cept for the party) smelled like smoke. The hotel room we had was a non-smoking room, but it was obvious it had been smoked in before. And the rooms on the other side of the hall were smoking rooms. By the time we left, every article of clothing we brought needed to be "warshed."
When we weren't hanging out with Manda and JR we were with Kelly and her new man Cliff. We went to a townie bar Friday night after dinner at the recommendation of Stoner Steve, the guy manning the desk at the hotel. Then Saturday for lunch we ate at a place called The Church Brew Works. It's a church that was converted into a restaurant and brew pub. They cut the pews and made booths from them, classy.
I took a few pictures of our excellent adventure; I'll tweak those tomorrow and put them up.
