Garbage Picking

I love garbage picking. Every time I drive past a pile at the end of someone's driveway I slow down to look for anything good. I recently acquired a lawn mower AND a leaf blower!

A last week my next door neighbor was throwing out a bunch of crap from their garage and I noticed the handle of a lawn mower sticking out of the middle of the pile. I already had a working mower so I didn't jump all over that, and Rachelle gave me the look of death when I mentioned it. The next day the garbage people came and took everything except for the mower. I'm guessing they didn't take it because it still had gas and oil in it. Rachelle was staying late at school to work with her grad school partner so I walked over and took a look at the mower. It was a really nice Briggs and Stratton 4 horsepower 22" push mower. I pulled the ripcord a few times and it spat oil out the muffler. To make a long story short, I changed the gas, hit the spark plug with a propane torch to burn all the crud off it, solvented the hell out of the engine and now it starts on the first pull every time. I can't wait for the neighbor to see me mowing with it!

While I was working on the mower I thought to myself, "I really need to find a leaf blower, since it's getting to be that time of year." Yesterday on our way back home from a friends house I spotted one down the street. I ran back after we got home and found a pretty decent brandx gas-powered leaf blower. I got it home, added some 50:1 gas mix and it fired within 3 pulls. Free stuff is awesome.

And so the reason why we're two people who are able to fill a 4 bedroom house. Joe is a crap collector. He failed to mention that we now own 3 LAWNMOWERS!!!! And he claims he'll get rid of one or two.. but I have yet to see that! Oh well, I guess I fill up the dining room with shoes so it's give and take:)

Think of how fast you can cut the lawn now that Rachelle has her very own lawnmower! Although you could at least paint it pink for her.

HAHA Funny, but won't work. I'm deathly allergic to cut grass. We have to close the windows and doors when he mows. Good idea though!

Yeah, I'm keeping my eyes pealed for someone throwing out one of those clean-room suits so she can mow without coming in contact with any grass.

Wait Rachelle. We filled up a 3 bedroom house with only 2 people because besides his stuff being here and my stuff moving in, we also emptied my parents trailer and his parents house here as well. I see that Joe takes after his father...scary. Thanksgiving will be a challenge moving all the stuff out of the living room. I have all the painting supplies from painting the outside of the house and the bathroom project sitting in the living room at the moment. It is easy for me to buy stuff and hide it from Robert and have it surface months later. But I guess it is hard to hide a lawnmower.
